Celebrating 100 years of St Monica Trust with a beer made by residents!

“It has been a real pleasure watching both the hops and our residents of all abilities, flourishing through their involvement with Hoppiness Brews.
“Hundred Not Out embodies the spirit of connection, contribution and choice that underpins everything we do and it is the perfect brew with which to toast our 100 years of caring.”

From home grown hops…
Residents from across St Monica Trust’s 5x retirement villages and 4x care homes helped to plant, water, weed and grow our hops.
Our bumper yield for Year 1 bucked the national trend and brought joy to so many residents, staff, volunteers and family members.
We hand delivered the hops to Wiper & True – an independent Bristol based brewery – who adopted an innovative approach to an age old brewing tradition.
Together we created the Hundred Not Out centenary brew, celebrating 100 years of St Monica Trust.
…to a beer with purpose
Hoppiness is a program centred around care homes and people living with dementia.
We aim to challenge stereotypes – from the active contribution of older adults, to their freedom to enjoy a drink after a hard day’s work!
Throughout the program we used a range of tools from reminiscence to horticultural therapy to stimulate senses, new connections and make the program inclusive to all.
All funds raised will go towards dementia-friendly gardening and bringing joy and #hoppiness to other care homes.
